John Henton is the son of Benjamin Henton & Sarah Hopkins.

In 1809 John was married to Mary Sites [1794-1814 Va.]in Virginia. To them were born four daughters:
Elizabeth [Anthony Rader], Lucinda -not married, Sarah [Geo. W. Nicholas] and Mary [Jacob Rader].


After Mary's death he moved to Fairfield Co., Ohio. His daughters did not go to Ohio with him but all stayed in Virginia.

In May 1816 in Fairfield Co., Ohio John married Rachel Clabaugh, daughter of Nickolas Clabaugh & Rebecca Dickey.
To them were born 10 children: Benjamin, Rebecca Ann, Anna, Delilah, John Jr., Amelia, Rachel, Silas, Thomas Hopkins, and Isaiah.

Rachel died in Nov 1836 in childbirth with Isaiah. John lived in Fairfield Co. Ohio for many years and eventually moved to Ridge Township, Shelby Co., Illinois to be near some of his children.

To the best of my knowledge I can find no accurate information that confirms Henton Cemetery was named for this John Henton.

John & Rebecca are my fourth gr-grandparents
