Rev. Terry Douglas Floyd (1938-2009) After suffering with Pick's Disease Complex, a rare brain disease, Terry passed to his Heavenly home to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 9, 2009. He had been a resident at the Crawford Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Van Buren, Arkansas, under the Peachtree Hospice since December, 2008.

Terry was a man who loved to have fun with his family. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and anything that included family or the outdoors. His fun loving ways endeared him to everyone he met. Most of all, he loved Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to tell everyone the good news of the Gospel.

Terry was born at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, on March 21, 1938. The twin son of a Naval Officer, the Floyds called home wherever the U.S. Navy took them. Terry graduated from Pensacola High School, Class of 1957, Pensacola, Florida. He followed high school with a 4-year tenure in the Navy. In May of 1964, Terry married Irene Holman.

Terry and Irene were blessed with two sons, Christopher in November, 1965 and Daniel in January, 1969. The family relocated to Arkansas in 1971 where Terry began serving in his calling as a Minister of the Gospel. He received his DTh from Mid-American Baptist Theological Seminary in 1979 and served as pastor of churches in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Florida. Due to the onset of the brain disease, he retired in September, 2000. As his health permitted, he continued to serve the Lord and minister to those in need.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Wes and Vesta Floyd.

Terry is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Irene (Holman) Floyd, his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Amanda Floyd, of Van Buren, Arkansas and son, Danny and Angelina Floyd, of Seminole, Alabama; his twin brother, Jerry Floyd, of St. Augustine, Florida; his sister, Gwen Kearley, of St. Petersburg, Florida; his grandson, Jacob and granddaughter, Danielle of Seminole, Florida and granddaughters, Kasey, Jenna and Brilee of Van Buren, Arkansas. He is also survived by nephews, James, David & Tim Kearley and Nathan Floyd and one niece, Terri Floyd, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. His family and friends will miss his guidance, counsel and fun-loving ways.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Pensacola, Florida, with interment at the Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station, in Pensacola, Florida.

Pallbearers will be the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
