Cpl US Army World War 11, Purple Heart Carol W. Philpott, 79, a resident of the Williamsport Health Care Center at Crawfordsville, formerly of New Richmond, died at 2:22 pm Monday.
Mr. Philpott was a retired postal carried for the United States Post Office. He was a graduate of Wallace High School and went on to serve in the armed forces. His memberships included the New Richmond Methodist Church.
He was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Fountain County to Glenn and Ava Marshall Philpott. He married Ruby E. White Philpott May 14, 1970. She survives.
Also surviving are two step-sons, Phil and Rick White, both of Waveland; three daughters, Linda Fisher of Plainfield, Sue Rossack of Lake Holiday, and Joyce Ritchey of Boone, NC.; two brothers, Lloyd of Romney and Donald of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Ena Elmore and Lois Melvin, both of Waynetown; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 am Thursday in Alamo Cemetery with Linda Kallock officiating. Friends may call 9-11 am Thursday at Shoemaker Funeral Home in Waynetown.
