"Wanda P. Mason Bates entered into the presence of her Creator on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 9:50 a.m. at Hendrick Medical Center Hospice Unit in Abilene. Wanda was born September 13, 1949 Wanda Jean Cummings Mason and the late Thomas Mason. She graduated from Coleman High School in May, 1968. On June 8, 1969, she married Johnny Bates in Santa Anna.
"Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Midway Cemetery with John Pricer officiating.
"Family visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday April 15, 2008 at Stevens Funeral Home. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
"Wanda is survived by her husband, Johnny Bates of Abilene, her son, David Bates and his wife, Tefany, of Abilene; her daughter, Tammy Gutierrez of Abilene; her mother, Wanda Jean Mason of Coleman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Janice Mason of Long Grove, Oklahoma, Joe and Sarah Mason of Coleman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Toni and Delbert Strength of Talpa, Linda Mason of Coleman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alton and Rosa Lou Bates of Andrews, Ronald and Betty Bates of Waco, Carolyn and John Pricer of Crawford; four grandchildren, Sonny Bates and Erin Bates, Cory Gutierrez and Angel Gutierrez, all of Abilene and several nieces and nephews.
"She was preceded in death by her father.
"In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to Hendrick Hospice, 1901 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas 79601."
