MAR. 14, 1907
OBITUARY
Died at his home two miles southeast of Newtonia, Mo., March 6th, 1907, Jacob Anderson Estes. He was a son of W.W. Estes and was born Feb. 2nd, 1868, age at death 39 years, 1 month, 4 days. Was converted in a meeting held by the writer at Newtonia in 1891 and at once joined the church. Was married to Miss Maggie Nigh May 25, 1893. To this union two girls were born, Grace, age 12, May, age 4.

He became a deacon in the Newtonia Baptist church in Nov. 1903, and was elected superintendent of the of the Sunday school in Dec. 1906. He was a good man, quiet and unassuming, yet faithful in the work, as much as his delicate health would permit. He expressed at various times and to different persons that he was prepared to go, and often said, "Men out to prepare to meet God while in health and have their reason."

The funeral services began at the residence March 6th, 10 A.M., with song and prayer conducted by the writer, then the Masonic Order took charge of the body, conducting it to the Baptist church in Newtonia, where the writer preached the funeral sermon from Psa. 8:4, to a large and attentive audience.

After this the congregation was permitted to view the corpse, and then the Masons and the Modern Woodman took charge of the body, conducting it to the I.O.O.F. cemetery, near Newtonia, where they held their usual burial services, consigning the body to the dust to await the resurrection day.

He will be missed. He leaves to mourn his loss, father, mother, brothers, sister, wife, children and many friends and relatives. As a personal and intimate friend of Bro. Estes, I wish to say that my life has been made happy and burden easier to bear because of his thoughtfulness of me. May the Lord graciously bless the bereaved.
