Philip McClain, son of Lewis & Fannie McClain, was born at Williamstown, MO; on the 7th day of December, 1868, and departed this life at his late home near Williamstown on the 29th day of October, 1944, at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and 22 days.
On the 15th day of February 1899 he was married to Nevada Riley, of Anson, MO, who preceded him in death on the 24th day of September, 1938.
Mr. McClain was a member of a family of 17 children, ten of whom have preceded him in death.
He was a successful farmer and stock raiser, an industrious and energetic man. He will be greatly missed in his community. A good citizen has gone to his reward.
Those remain to mourn his death the following named brothers and sisters: Lewis McClain, of Williamstown; Henry McClain, of Wyaconda; Willie McClain, Williamstown; Lawrence McClain LaBelle; Mrs. Lizzie Blessing, Downing; Mrs. Julia Butcher, Quincy, IL; Mrs. Ella Ewart, Williamstown; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at this home Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock Rev. George V. Basket officiating.
The pall bearers were Plezzie McClain, Russell McClain, Wilson McClain, Jim McClain, Robert Moore, & Charles McReynolds.
Interment was made in the Peaksville Cemetery beside his wife.
Music was furnished by Georgia Mae English, Zelma Stewart, John Smith and Alex Leslie.
