Charles Archie Thompson, 80, a former Muskogee resident, died in the Masonic Home at Guthrie Sunday afternoon, January 3, 1982, after a long illness.
Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Petering Funeral Home's Ivory Chapel. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Masonic services were presented by Trinity Masonic Lodge No. 502.
Born October 16, 1901, in Wagoner, he grew up in Wagoner before entering the military academy at West Point, New York. He completed his schooling at Northeastern State University at Tahlequah and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in 1945. He spent many years in the ministry and was instrumental in founding the Bible Presbyterian Church in Muskogee. He was a member of Trinity Masonic Lodge 502, Mount Olive White Shrine, and Hope chapter of the Order of Eastern Star 401. In recent years he attended the Fellowship Sunday school class at First Baptist Church and lived at the Guthrie home for the past three years.
Survivors include four sons; Charles A. Jr., of Albuquerque, New Mexico; M. E. "Pat" of Midwest City; Archie of McAlester and Mike of Topeka, Kansas; four daughters, Ruth Sutton of Tulsa, Bonnie Allen of St. Charles, Michigan, Barbara Hudson of Phoenix, Arizona and Gwen Campbell of Norman; a brother, Paul O. Thompson of Wagoner and a sister; Mrs. Chester (Ann) Lewis of San Antonio, Texas; and 29 grandchildren.
