Bobby E. Travis, age 72 of Campbellsburg, died Sunday, August 13, 2006, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Mt. Eden, son of the late Orville Thomas and Corine McKinney Travis. He was a charter member of Henry Christian Church, an Army veteran, police officer with Jeffersontown Police Department from 1961 to 1964, Chief of Police for Eminence Police Department from 1964 to 1973 and a Lieutenant with Frankfort Career Development Center.

He is survived by one son, Ronald Travis, Houston, Texas; one daughter, Bobbie Jean Travis, Campbellsburg; one step son, Tim Kelley, Eminence; one stepdaughter, Linda Ann Kelley, Louisville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Kephart Travis.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville. Rev. Bert Montgomery, Campbellsburg Baptist Church, and Rev. Michael Duncan, Eminence Baptist Church, officiated. Interment with military honors was held at Defoe Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tommy Goodwin, T.J. Kelley, Mike Lucas, Ronnie Raisor, Joe Rucker and Julius Willhoite.
