Obituary:
Mrs E.E. Burke Buried Saturday.
Mrs. Emma Burke of Tell was buried at Tell Saturday. The following obituary was written by the Rev. H.B. Terrell.
"Mrs. Emma E. Burke, was born August 31, 1869, at Rockmart, GA. and died at the family residence at Tell, Thursday morning, June 30.
She united with the Church of Christ when 16 of age and was a true and faithful, though unassumming Christian, until her death.
She was, for the last several years, a great sufferer, yet those who knew her best speak in highest terms of her patience and brave endurance, ever holding high the standard of Christianity before her family and friends, calling them in word and deed to follow in paths pure and clean that they too might yet while on earth prepare to live in God's heavens.
"to Mrs. Burke's marriage were born three sons. She, later in life, was married to G.F. Burke at Cheyenne, Oklahoma, by Judge Houston, who also was a minister, January 1, 1903. Those two had labored side by side through all, those years, sharing alike the sweet and the bitter of life.
"On the morning of June 30. Mrs. Burke arose and prepared breakfast, and seemingly was better than usual. After breakfast, she stepped out in the yard, where she fell. Her husband at once lifted her in his arms and bore her back to the couch. But she never rallied enough to speak.
"The deceased is survived by her husband and three sons, J.J. and George Fain of Tell, and T.W. Fain of Huntsville, and thirteen Grandchildren, also four sisters Mrs. Mollie Ellison, Ft. Townsend OK, Mrs Fannie Keeling of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Nannie White and Mrs. Mittie White both of Rockmart, GA. Also a host of friends and neighbors who mourn her passing. Earth has lost-heaven has gained. May her life be an inspiration to her loved ones, to help them so live as to be able to meet her in the skies, where sorrows, tears and separation will be known no more. "May God be your comfort in life and your stay in death, is the prayer of your friend."
