Luther D. "Dot" Shadoan, 100, a former resident of Boswell, died at 5:05 p.m. Friday in the Shaw-Field Hospital in Sumter, S. C, where he had been a patient 2 weeks.

Mr. Shadoan was born Dec. 14, 1888, in Somerset, Ky.

His marriage on June 29, 1908, was to Clarine Hays, and she died Feb. 28, 1977.

He had resided in Boswell since 1931. Prior to moving to Boswell, he had farmed in Kentucky, Montana and Colorado. He also was a former employee of the Corn Belt Hatchery in Boswell and the Boswell Stockyards. Mr. Shadoan was well-known throughout the area for his creation of hooked rugs which he exhibited and won numerous awards at local and area fairs. He also was an active gardener up to the age of 95 when he fell and broke his hip.

Surviving are four daughters, Eva Eichenberger of Boswell, Lois Springer of Monticello, Geraldine Kortokrax of Cedar Lake, and Anna Cassell of Spartanburg, S.C. ; and two sons, Lawrence Shadoan of Highland, Ind., and Richard Shadoan of Sumter, S. C.; 41 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded by 4 sons, Wilbur and William and 2 at birth; two daughters, Mary Nowak and 1 at birth; 3 sisters; and 6 brothers.
