Nina Mildred Bartlett, 87, of Pilot Rock and formerly of Elgin, died Jan. 27 at Willowbrook Terrace in Pendleton.

Viewing will run from 1 to 6 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, followed by vault interment at Pilot Rock Cemetery.

Nina was born July 12, 1921, to A. Jefferson and Erma (Montgomery) Lovan in Richland, Mo. She was the oldest of nine children and was raised and educated in Willow Springs, Mo.

On Feb. 15, 1939, she married James David Bartlett in Plains, Mo. They lived in Willow Springs, Frazier, Colo., and Elgin, before moving to Pilot Rock in 1968. Nina lived there for 48 years. She lived in Elgin from 1946 to 1960.

She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Nina was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses church, and attended the Kingdom Hall in Pendleton.

She is survived by her son, Charles L. Bartlett of Pilot Rock; daughters, Betty Poulson and Beverly Kennedy, both of Pendleton; brother, Herman Lovan of Caldwell, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James in February 1998; a son, James William Bartlett in 1994; and seven siblings.
