Gus Monesmith, 86, of 1316 Springwater, a long-time resident of this area, died in a Wenatchee hospital early Saturday morning.

He was born in Grass Creek, Ind., April 27, 1883, and he immigrated with the family to North Dakota at the age of five.

In 1904 he came to Wenatchee and lived on Sunny slope. When the Highline Canal was built, he helped construct it on the east side of the river. Later he walked the ditch and raised an apple orchard at Majestic Valley.
