Miss Faye Larkin Cox, age 76, of Hinshaw Street, North Wilkesboro died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2:30, Sunday, April 5, at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Gore officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Saturday night.
Miss Cox was born in Wilkes County, December 21, 1932, to Robert (Glenn) and Bertha Eller Cox. She was an active member of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church. Miss Cox served 12 years as North Wilkesboro Town Commissioner. She was very active in the Democratic party, serving as precinct chair, president of Wilkes Democratic Women; chair of the District Democratic Women and a member of the NC Executive Democratic Committee and participated in many local charitable activities. Miss Cox was retired from the Town of North Wilkesboro Police Department as a sergeant.
Miss Cox is survived by one sister, Billie Jean Cox of Chapel Hill; two nieces who grew up with Miss Cox in the family home, Darla C. Ashley and Sherry C. Johnson.
