Bing Kwun Wong died on March 24, 2008. He was 90 years old.
Mr. Wong was born in Gom Benn, China. He married Sau K. Wong, beginning more than 70 years together. But their first decade they spent apart. Mr. Wong immigrated to the United States in 1937. He worked as a cook, among many jobs, sending his savings home to China, but not able to return home because of World War II. At the end of the War, he returned to China to bring his wife back to the United States. Together, Bing and Sau raised three children, Arthur, Leland and Andrea. For 25 years, Mr. Wong ran his own restaurant, Kun Ming Kitchen in Covina. For many of those years, they lived in the El Sereno area of Los Angeles.
After retiring, he lovingly helped to raise his grandchildren. He cared for Art and Jennifer's daughters, Lindsay and Hayley; Leland and Dorothy's kids, Dorenda and Erik; and Andrea and Pete's kids, Brent, Keith and Brittney. He loved a good cup of coffee, apple pie and prime rib. Most of all, he loved his family.
Services held at 1 p.m. March 29 at Evergreen Baptist Church SGV, 323 Workman Mill Road, La Puente. Graveside services followed at Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary in Whittier.
