~An Old Citizen passed Away~
Mr. William T. Cheshier for more than a half century, a well known citizen of Ray county, died at his home three miles southwest of Orrick, Friday morning, March 29th 1918 at about 7 o'clock after an illness of several weeks from a kidney trouble.
Mr. Cheshier was a native of Tennessee, born in Jefferson county, February 3rd, 1840, therefore was 78 years, 1 month and 26 days old at the time of his death. He came to Missouri at the age of 21 years, and a few years later located in Ray county, where on July 24, 1864, he was united in marriage to Miss Pauline J. Wyman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harding Wyman, pioneer settlers of Fishing River township, and to this union twelve children were born, seven of who, with the widow survive.
He had been a member of the Baptist church for more than 60 years, and was an excellent citizen, quiet and unassuming, and thoroughly, dependable; a devoted husband and father, and a friend and neighbor whom all delighted to honor.
Funeral services were held at the home Saturday morning at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev. Holt Smith, pastor of Orrick Baptist church; and interment was made in South Point cemetery.
