Margaret Litz Bowles married first Richard C. Kinnamon in Virginia and they had 2 daughters, Sarah Jane and Julia Ann. Her father died when she was 2 years old. Sarah Jane was blind. The 1880 Schedules of Defective, Dependent, and Delinquent Classes indicates that she became blind at 7 years of age after having scarlet fever.

Margaret then married Edward Augustus Bowles. Their son, William Archie Bowles and wife Harriet Allen had 9 children, 4 of them died in childhood. His wife died just one month after the birth of the last pair of twins. Child 8) Margaret died 4 months after her birth and child 9) Mary lived.

After the death of her half brother's wife, Sarah took the month old baby and cared for it for quite some time. I, Lavina, had the privilege of meeting Sarah Jane after I was married. She came to Idaho to see her sister, Julianne Kinnamon Kinder. She told me how, at 10 years old, she had first learned to thread a needle. She went out where she could be alone, put a needle and thread in her mouth and worked them around in her mouth with her tongue until the needle was threaded. She threaded a needle to let me see how she did it. She, also, told me that she had all her Temple clothes made and put away for her burial when she died. She had them herself. She lived in Lewiston, Utah.

She was a very faithful Latter- Day Saint. She was a visiting teacher in Relief Society. One day she said she was going home from visiting teaching and had to cross a canal. She decided to cross where there was only a plank. When she was on the plank she fell into the canal. After, she said of the experience, "Just a good soaking was all I got."

She was also a very ardent Temple worker doing many endowments and sealings. She was just a little over 2 months old when her father and mother were sealed in the Nauvoo temple on Dec 31, 1845. She was a marvelous person and was really dedicated to her religion.
