Paul L. Nichols, 80, of Urbana, Ohio, died at 3:56 A.M. Thursday, April 9, 2009 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.
He was born July 19, 1928 in Cable, Ohio, a son of Ellis Raymond and Mary Marie(Sellers)Nichols.
Pete retired from the US Army after 23 years, serving four tours in the Korean Conflict and two tours in the Vietnam Conflict, was self-employed as owner operator of 4 J's Pallet Company. He was inducted into Mount Susitna Lodge #294 F. & A.M. in Anchorage, Alaska on April 15, 1969 and a member of Harmony Lodge #8 F. & A.M., Magrew Lodge #433 K of P, Westville, Urbana VFW Post 5451, past Commander of Mechanicsburg American Legion Post #238, Member of the YMCA, enjoyed woodworking, golf and his dogs.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years Judy (Eaton) whom he Married January 15,1977, daughters, Juanita "Sonnie" Kirk and her husband George of Galloway, Jennie Epping and her husband Bill of North Lewisburg and Jacquelene McDaniel of Hudson, FL., six grandchildren, Holly Morgan, Stephen Short, Jo-Ellen Tschappat, Jonathan Short, Melody(Donivan)Rhoton and Joshua Rooney, ten great grandchildren, Abigale and Joshua Rooney,Jr., Jolyn and Cera Rhoton, McKinley Morgan, Alyssa and Austin Ebner, Kenneth Townsend, Jr., Wesley Short and Chance Short, Two sisters, Ellen Gonsalves and Ann McCall both of Urbana, and brother, Garlang"Bud" Nichols of Urbana.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Janrtte, great grandson, Eric Ebner III, Sisters Helen Foulk, Dorothy Grow, Alice Grim and Evelyn Baumgardner and brothers, Ellis Nichols, Jr. and George Nichols.
The family will recevive friends 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday,April13,2009 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S.Main Street, Urbana, with Masonic services to be held at 8:00P.M. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 with Rev. Kevin Horrigan officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mutual.
