Former Night Marshal of Manchester Dies at Daughter's Home.

FUNERAL ON SUNDAY

Leaves Widow, Four Children and Brother to Mourn Passing.

T. T. Oliver, for fifteen years a night marshal of Manchester, and employed for many years previously as a cigar maker by the late J. J. Goen, died Thursday night, Aug. 19, 1937, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Malven, in Waterloo. Mr. Oliver had been in failing health for many years, and during the past five years suffered the loss of sight, and experienced intense suffering from an incurable ailment.

Funeral services were held at the Brown funeral home Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. Geo Winters, pastor of the Community church. Burial was made in Oakland cemetery.

Mr. Oliver was born in Sewellville, Ohio, Jan. 16, 1856, and at the age of three years his father's family came west and located at Independence, Ia. In 1886 Mr. Oliver came to Manchester and engaged in the cigar making trade, working for many years for the late J. J. Goen.

He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Arn Schadey of this place Jan. 28, 1890, and practically all of their married life was spent in Manchester. During the last five years Mr. Oliver and his wife made their home with their daughter in Waterloo.

He is survived by the widow and the following children Mrs. Jas. H. Barnd, Manchester, Mrs. Chas. R. Malven and Miss Marian Oliver, Waterloo, and Tom Oliver Jr. Lincoln, Neb. He also leaves five grandsons and one brother, George Oliver, of Alberta, Canada.

Mr. Oliver served the city as night policeman for 15 years, giving faithful and efficient service. He was a man of kindly nature and had a large circle of friends who will learn of his passing with sorrow. The sympathy of many friends is extended to the widow and children in their sorrow.
