Armor enlisted first with the Indiana Cavalry, Company D, 3rd Regiment in March of 1862. During his service he was injured and was discharged while recovering from an amputated finger. He later re-enlisted with the 7th regiment of Co. D, where he finished his service until 1865.
On February 11, 1875 he married Harriet Durman in Ohio Co., Indiana. Together they had two daughters, Mary Ann and JoAnna. The oldest, MaryAnn, married Harrison Bingle of Hamilton County, Ohio. JoAnna died at the age of 7.
Armor died on March 17, 1883 - his death being contributed to typoid fever and pneumonia, most probably contracted during the flood of the winter of 1882/1883 of Lawrenceburg, Indiana. It was reported that during the flood, many residents, including Armor, took up shelter in the court house, and he became seriously ill upon returning to his own home.
