He was born in Georgia, moved to South Carolina. Later he moved to the County of Marion in Alabama to live with family. On 1/27/1941 he joined the U.S. Army.

Served in U.S. Army WWII, switched over to the newly formed U.S. Air Force, served in the Korean War, retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant. Served as Mayor of Honea Path; was successful in getting funds to build the new fire department building.

Children: Jessie Carolyn, Jimmy Coleman, Revonda Jo

Funeral conducted March 9, 2009 by Rev. Harmon Adkins, Rev. James Welch, and Rev. Jerry Van Pelt at Honea Path First Assembly of God. Burial in Eastview Cemetery.
