MERTZON - Guy GIlbert Thomas of San Angelo, 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2009. He was born Aug. 1, 1942, in San Angelo, Texas, to Sam Thomas and Dymple Trainer Thomas and spent the majority of his life there. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School and attended the University of North Texas. However, Guy always said that he got his higher education growing up at the 12 Mile Bridge and attending Tankersley Tech. Guy was engaged in the insurance claim business for over 40 years and attributes his start to Mack McKinney. Most of his adult life he was self-employed as the owner of Thomas Adjustment Service. Everyone who knew Guy was touched by his ability to make people laugh. He was an avid outdoorsman whose happiest times were spent fishing and hunting with his buddies. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Dymple; one son, Tobin Thomas; two older brothers, Sam and Joe Thomas; and a special Aunt Jamie Trainer. He is survived by his son, Wade Thomas of San Angelo and his two sons, Ty and Walter; daughter Kasey and her husband, Stephen, of San Antonio and their children, Jacob and Sophie; daughter-in-law Laura Cousar of Sugar Land and her daughter Moira; nephews Kelly, San, Sam Harold III, Guy, Wes, Todd and Mayo; nieces Marjo, Marcia, Julie. The family wished to express their deepest appreciation to dear friends Bruce Watson, Don and Julie Watson and family and the staff of Hospice of San Angelo for creating a loving, comfortable environment for Guy's last few months with us. There will be a celebration of Guy's life at Johnson's Funeral Home on Friday,. April 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. A private family graveside service will be held at Sherwood Cemetery afterward. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be mde to Hopsice of San Angelo, West Texas Boys Ranch or charity of your choice.
