EAST WENATCHEE _ Jack C. Trumble, 79, of East Wenatchee, an early day Wenatchee banker, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1993, following a short illness.

He was born Oct. 17, 1913, to Wenatchee pioneers R. Edward and Mary Ellen (Hess) Trumble at Wenatchee, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1932. He had been active in the Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout in 1930. He worked as a junior assistant scoutmaster at Prince Creek Scout Camp on Lake Chelan during the summers of 1927 through 1929. He then served as scoutmaster at the Catholic Church for a year.

Mr. Trumble began working at 16 for the Commercial Bank and Trust Company of Wenatchee, which later became First National Bank of Wenatchee.

He married Aileen Pearl Darby on Nov. 10, 1934, at Seattle. They lived at Wenatchee and he continued working for the bank until 1940. He worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Company for a two-week period during the takeover and subsequent sale of the bank to Seattle First National Bank. He was transferred to Seattle in 1948 for six months of audit training and went to work in the Seattle First auditing department on August 16, 1948. He later transferred to the operating department and was responsible for establishing about 80 new branch offices including the Sea-First World's Fair Branch which opened in 1962. He retired as vice president of Seattle First National Bank in 1970 after 48 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Trumble had moved to Bellevue in 1959. They returned to the Wenatchee Valley seven years ago to be near their daughter.

He had served as president of the Wenatchee Junior Chamber of Commerce at Wenatchee and director and district vice president of the Washington State Jaycees. He also was director of the Wenatchee Businessman's Credit Association and the Wenatchee Community Chest, and was a member of the YMCA, the Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee, Wenatchee Elks Lodge and Wenatchee Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, ]Pearl, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Vic (Carol) Duncan of East Wenatchee; a brother, Richard Trumble of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepbrother, Kris Gudmundson of Wenatchee; two stepsisters; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a brother and a sister.

Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley at East Wenatchee.
