Actor. A well known figure in the early 1950s when he landed the starring role in the movie, "Valetino". His uncanny resemblance to the late silent film star propelled him to quick stardom, but his acting career stalled after that and he ended his acting parts in low budget and forgettable movies. He went on to star in a number of other films, including The Brigand (1952), Captain John Smith And Pocahontas (1953); Captain Kidd and the Slave Girl (1954); The Black Pirates (1954); He Laughed Last (1956); The Story of Mankind (1957); The Parson and the Outlaw (1957); Twelve To The Moon (1960); and Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967). Born Walter Walter Fleischmann Craig, he served in the military during World War II and came to Hollywood to pursue an acting career. After limited success, he became a drama teacher at Eagle Rock High School in Los Angeles where he touched thousands of students lives with his emphasis on Shakespeare sonnets and exact and distinct elocution by his students. He retired from teaching in 1978, moving to Greeley, Colorado, to be near his daughters.
