Hazel Dell was the daughter of Henry Madison Buckner and his wife Fannie Estelle Brooks.
8 BUCKNER siblings including Florene (Buckner) Cole and Beulah (Buckner) McKee. Hazel was the youngest.
Hazel married Clarence Ellsworth Shellito on June 3, 1943.

Her family moved to Oklahoma when she was very young. She was the youngest of nine children.
Hazel had been living in Houston and subsequently Pearland from December 2002 until her death. Her care was lovingly and respectfully administered by Debora Simmons, her great-niece and her niece, Carlene Foster, as well as her sister Florene Buckner Cole. She also was compassionately attended for all these years by Christina Gurnee, who came to be a good friend and attentive companion.
She is survived by eight grandchildren: Penny Crawford of Oklahoma City, Alan Isom of Chickasha, Cherry Bailey of Stillwater and JD Isom of Duncan, Carla Courtney, Sherry Cullins, Billie Devilbiss and Mathew Wilkins of Blanchard.
She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews living across the United States.
Hazel will be remembered as a long-time member of the First Baptist Church. Her many charities and volunteer work included Cornerstone Church soup kitchen and Meals on Wheels which she and her friend of more than 50 years, Mary Ann Mutchmore, shared for over five years. Hazel was always ready to offer her assistance and/or a juicy pie whenever she found someone in need. In a recent conversation, Mary Ann remembered Hazel's sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself. She recounted many trips they made together and how Hazel made them so much fun with her humorous attitude. She loved to fly and visited her sister, Florene Cole in Texas as often as she could. She and Florene were best friends growing up. One of her dearest pleasures was when Florene came to visit her. During those visits, she proved all over again that she was an excellent cook, always happy to try a new recipe. Both Hazel and Florene were very close to their sister, Beulah McKee of Chickasha, who passed away May 14, 2005.
Hazel and Clarence were married June 3, 1943. It was a happy union producing one child, Sharon Kay. They lived in Chickasha until the untimely death of Clarence in a car-train accident February 16, 1963. Clarence was a survivor of World War II and subsequent campaigns as a Sergeant First Class in the Army. He joined the National Guard in later years and was honored by having a new civic-classroom in the Armory Building, 727 Chickasha Avenue, dedicated to him.
Although Hazel suffered many exquisite losses in her life, she never allowed herself to stop giving to others. Family, friends and strangers were recipients of her largess; sometimes to her own detriment. A whole heart; a loving heart and a spirit to which we should all aspire... that was Hazel. She will be missed, but remembered for her grace, her humor, her humanity.
