Changed birth place from Lancaster, Erie, NY to Limestone, Cattaraugus, NY based on family history told by his daughter, Doris Lillian Dunn.
The following are notes written by Doris Lillian Dunn regarding her family.
My Father William E. Dunn, (the subject of this memorial) was born on Feb. 6 or 16 1863 in or near Limestone, New York (near Pennsylvania lines). He was raised in Pennsylvania by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Kinnon.
His mother's name was Susie Kinnon (really McKinnon or MacKinnon). Her father (who raised Papa) was a deserter from (Canadian was written, then crossed out) English Army and changed his name to Kinnon. She (Susie) was probably born in (Canada was written, then crossed out) New York, Doris goes on to suggest possible birth places, Little Genesee, Syracuse. Papa's father's name was Martin Dunn. He came here from Ireland with two other brothers, full blooded Irish, Other two brothers went west and were never heard from again.
When Papa was still quite small, there was a baby sister born. Then his mother and baby sister died of smallpox.
When he was 4 or 5 years old his father Martin was killed by a train in some way.
Susie Kinnon's father came over from Ireland, via England, as a stowaway hidden in the wood of a wood burning boat. He had to wear a corset in the Army. He was from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Related to Storks/Stoks (hard to read) of Ireland.
I believe he was in the English Army and deserted from Canada.

William Dunn 62 NY, claims to be widowed (this simply is not true) and that his parents were born in NY, farmer
William died at his home near Cross Roads following a brief illness. He was the son of Martin Dunn and Susannah (Susie) McKinnen (also seen as Kinnen). His father, Martin Dunn was hit by a train and killed when William was about three. His mother and sister died of small pox when William was about eight. Leaving him without parents he went to Pennsylvania where he was raised by his grandparents, William and Moriah Kinnen/McKinnen. He became a chef. He married Alice May Tompkins on 23 Apr 1893. He returned to New York sometime before 6 Jan 1906 which is when his daughter Doris Lillian Dunn was born in Colden, Erie CO, NY, she was his only issue. The family moved to Galt, CA where they operated a dairy farm and ran a milk route. About 1923 William left CA for Arkansas, (he had traded the farm in Galt for the farm in Arkansas, sight unseen) where he would live out the rest of his life.
It is unclear if he divorced Alice or as the family story goes abandoned the family. His daughter and Alice both survived him.
