BUTLER, Ala. – Services for Melvin Eugene Blackmon will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Hohn officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery in Yantley with Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler in charge of arrangements.Mr. Blackmon, 64, of Yantley, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.Survivors include two daughters, Sheila B. Limerick and her husband Robby, of Livingston, and Sherry Blackmon and her partner Kimberly Haner, of Norwood, Mass.; a brother, Leo Blackmon, of Indianola, Miss.; a sister, Doris Davidson, of Snell, Miss.; two grandchildren, Logan Oliver Limerick and Eli Blackmon Limerick; and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.Pallbearers will be John Paul Estes, Shane Garrett, Curvin Crowell, Henry Hendley, Jim Hendley, and William Hendley.Visitation will be held today, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
