Memorial services for Mary Lou Chrisman, 78, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. Graveside inurnment services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crystal Plains Cemetery in Smith County.
Mrs. Chrisman died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 17, 1930, in Smith County, the daughter of Milan and Mary Velma Hardacre Mannering. She attended Smith County schools, graduating from Smith Center High School in 1948.
Mrs. Chrisman worked for Atwood Implement Co., Smith Center, and was office manager for Swanson Advertising in Lincoln, Neb., and accountant for the Barry County Farmers Cooperative in Exeter, Mo.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, NEW ACT Methodist Women's Circle and the Welcome Club, all of Lawrence. She volunteered at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence Community Theatre, the Audio-Reader Network, First United Methodist Church and the H.E.L.P. Foundation. She enjoyed playing a variety of games with family and friends.
Mrs. Chrisman married Dr. Harry Gradwhol. He preceded her in death. She married Jerald Chrisman, who also preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Guy Mannering; and three sisters, Letha Hannan, Geraldine Hill and Lucile Hooper.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Diane Arment and husband Frank, Smith County, Karol Finch and husband Ben, Colorado Springs, Colo., Jimmie Hannon, Dallas, Don Hill and wife Robbie, Emporia, Keith Hooper and wife Pat, Lebanon, Kan., David Mannering and wife Linda, Lincoln, Neb., and Dennis Mannering and wife Peggy, Garland, Texas; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
