Mrs. Philemon A. Rogers of Lewiston Dies; Rites Thursday

Margaret McKnight Rogers, 72, wife of Philemon A. Rogers, Lewiston, died late Monday in a local hospital following a prolonged illness.

She was born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, March 18, 1881, a daughter of William and Martha Murray McKnight.

She came to this country in September, 1908, as a convert to the LDS Church, settling in Cache Valley. She was married to Mr. Rogers June 30, 1915, in Logan Temple.

Mrs. Rogers was active in the church, having served 14 years on the Benson Stake Relief Society board, president of ward Relief Society in Lewiston First; secretary and teacher of YWMIA; teacher in Sunday school and Primary; president of the ward Primary, a choir member many years, a member of the genealogical society, having done a great deal of temple work.

Mrs. Rogers had presented addresses in every ward in Benson stake, and in numerous other stakes. She was recognized as a good public speaker.

Surviving are her husband, Lewiston; a son, Lorin M. Rogers, a daughter, Mrs. Beth Schow, of American Falls; two sisters, Miss mary McKnight, Lewiston, and Mrs. Agnes Van Orden, Ogden; a brother, Joseph McKnight, Nampa, Idaho, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 1 p.m. in Lewiston First ward chapel, with Bishop Milton Jorgensen officiating. Friends may call at the family home in Lewiston Wednesday evening from 7 to 9:30 and Thursday from 10 a. m. until time of services. Burial will be in Lewiston cemetery.
