Jimmie was born on October 22, 1927, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, the son of Thomas H. and Myrtle (Collins) Palmer. He was raised in Eufaula and attended Eufaula schools. On October 19, 1943, Jimmie married Leatrice Maxine Chapman in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Jimmie enlisted in the military service on February 13, 1946 and was honorably discharged on July 30, 1947. After his service time, he returned home and became partners in the service station business with his brother, T.H. Palmer, Jr. and was in business for over 50 years. Jimmie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eufaula. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2009, at the First Baptist Church with Reverend J. Ingram officiating. Pallbearers were Tommy Palmer, Steve Swadley, Ronnie Palmer, Billy Guy Palmer and James Lee Palmer. Honorary pallbearers were Nick Pendley and Randy Bridges. Burial followed at the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.
