May Edith Alderson, 84, of Tomah, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at the Greenfield House. She was born May 12, 1920, to Joseph and Anna (Sharp) Pierce at Hancock, MI. She was united in marriage to Elton C. Alderson in September 1944 at Gainsville, TX. He preceded her in death July 6, 1999.

She is survived by a sister, Ruth (John) McClish of Carmel, CA; a brother-in-law, Vernon Oftedahl of Tomah; five nieces, Sharon (Don) Copper of LaFarge, Sandra (Keith) Larson and Rhonda (Duane) Zingler, both of Tomah, Jeannee (Bill) Wethe and Cheryl Hunter, both of Irvine, CA; two nephews, Kevin (Patsy) Alderson of Cashton and Robert (Judy) Oftedahl of Kewaunee; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews, Greg and Brian (Tamara) Copper, Angela (Mark) Tulley, Joseph Alderson III, Ryan (Nichole) Alderson, Jeremy, Bryan and Dana Beirmier, Scott (Karen) Oftedahl, and Karren (Jaremy) Cobble, Lisa (Jeff) McCormick, Scott (Brenda) Wilcox, Brian (Donyell) and Greg (Julie) Zingler, Cassandra and Johnny Hunter, and George Hartshorne. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton; and a sister-in-law, Fern Oftedahl; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eldred and Hope Alderson; and a great-nephew, Mark Oftedahl.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 13, at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 310 W. Elizabeth St., Tomah. Pastor William Rice and Pastor Martha Hampton officiated. Burial was in Mount Vernon Cemetery, in the Town of Tomah. Visitation was Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the services. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah, assisted the family with the arrangements.
