James Pace, a great uncle of mine was a colorful character. He was living in Platte County, Missouri in the 1840's, worked in the Kansas Territory in the early 1850's, was a member of the Paw Paw Militia of Platte County, Mo during the Civil War. He moved down to Vernon County, Missouri in the 1880's, then into Oklahoma Indian Territory in 1887 where in 1900 he owned a grocery store in Talala,Indian Territory. He also lived near Nowata.
