John Daniel was born 12 March 1927 in Jacksboro, Campbell County, Tennessee to George Washington and Polley (Isley) Daniel. He was a blacksmith and farmer. On 3 July 1846, in Hancock County, Illinois, he married Mary Jane Bell, daughter of Tom and Amanda Bell. John and Mary had eight children: Martha Jane, John Isley, George W., Thomas Milton, Francis Marion, Mitchell Young, Eugene, and one unnamed child. John died 20 September 1910 in Bath, Mason County, Illinois. He was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Mason County, Illinois. He was of a genial nature and of progressive habits, and accumulated a substantial portion of this world's goods.
