He was raised by the tenets of the Church of Christ and schooled in the public schools of the Dallas Independent School District. As a teenager, he apprenticed in television repair at Hurley's TV & Radio Repair in Urbandale, Dallas, Texas; but his greater interest was in cars, and while still in High School he found employment at the Urban Auto Repair Shop as a mechanic. He worked in automotive repair and in various construction fields until about 1976 when he started a pool company. At the time of his death in 1982, he operated a swimming pool company, which was based in Collin County, Texas.
At age eighteen Glenn married Cynthia Elaine "Cindy" Hatfield, daughter of Virgie and Carl Hatfield of Arkansas. In the course of their marriage, he and Cindy had one son (Living). They were divorced in 1974 and Glenn was given custody of his son. He remarried March 20, 1976 (Living) and fathered two sons (Living) in that marriage. His second marriage ended January 7, 1980. He was survived by his three sons, his parents, all his siblings and two grandfathers. He was preceded in death by his:
