Singer. Born Anne Swain, she began her singing career as a member of The Heathertones in 1946. With that group she toured with the Tommy Tucker Orchestra and recorded the hit song "Maybe You'll Be There" (1953). In 1958,she joined the female quartet The Chordettes and was signed to Cadence Records. During the 1950s and 1960s they had 13 Top 40 hits, including "Mr. Sandman", "Teenage Goodnight", "Eddie My Love", "Soft Sands" and "Lollipop". They also sang the theme for the popular TV show "Zorro" (1958) and theme song for the film "Never On Sunday" (1961). In the 1990s, the group reunited for doo-wop shows, toured and played Radio City Music Hall, New York. She was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001.
