10 April 1972: Edgar N. Bahney, prominent Myerstown businessman and banker, died Saturday night in the Bryn Mawr Hospital. He resided at 43 W. Main Ave., Myerstown. In 1920 Bahney became actively connected with the Bahney furniture and undertaking business and he was named president of Bahney's Furniture Store when it was incorporated in 1956. He continued active in this business until his death. He retired from the undertaking business in December of 1970. He was also active in Myerstown banking circles. He served as president of the Myerstown National Bank until its merger with the Myerstown Trust Co. He later became president of the Myerstown Back and Trust Co. and served in that capacity until its merger with the American Bank and Trust Co. Bahney served as chairman of the advisory committee of the Myerstown branch of the Myerstown branch of the American Bank and Trust Co., and was also a member of the board of directors of that bank. A life long resident of Myerstown, he was the son of the late Isaac and Agnes Matthews Bahney. A graduate of Albright College, he was a past president of the Berks-Lebanon-Schuylkill Funeral Directors Association and a former member of the Good Samaritan Hospital Board, Lebanon. He was a member of the Myerstown United Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Lillian Isenberg Bahney; a son, David L, Myerstown, and two grandsons, Douglas and Gregg. [Lebanon Daily News]
