Phineas was Christened 24 July 1763. Rev. War Soldier 3¼ years. Married Lois Ingalls of Keene, NH 19 Sep 1789. Phineas, 8th of 9 children, was orphaned at age 9 and raised by his oldest sister, Eunice. He was the first settler in area annexed as Goshen 1806. He built log houses on 4 different lots of land, was JP for 5 years, and his neighbors spoke of him as knowing almost enough to write an almanac.

In June 1976 this stone was laying on the ground. My husband and I straightened it to upright position. His widow, Lois, is buried in Ceresco Cem., Ripon, WI as Lois Hitchcock.
