A private graveside service for Leroy William Decker of Lynden will be today at Bayview Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 10:30 am Friday at Northside Community Church. Mr. Decker died Friday, July 30, 1999 in Lynden. He was 84.

Born Dec 8, 1914, to Roy Adelbert and Annie Closson (Robinson) Decker in Long Lake, NY, his family moved to Washington state in 1918 and to Whatcom County in 1924. He attended Silver Beach Elementary School, Whatcom High School and Fairhaven High School before graduating from Custer Union High School in 1933.

In 1932, Mr. Decker met Vida Loop, whom he married on April 6, 1935. They bought 80 acres of land at the east end of Kelly Road, where they built a home and raised their family.

Mr. Decker worked as a logger from 1942 until his retirement in 1968. He served on the Lighthouse Mission Ministries staff from 1969 to 1980. During that time, he was ordained with the full credentials of The Christian Missionary Alliance.

Mr. Decker was a member of and served as an elder at Bellingham Alliance, now Northside Community Church.

He enjoyed farming, gardening, canning, model railroading, wood-working, photography and service Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife of Lynden; sons William Closson Decker of Oregon and Robert Leroy Decker of California; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to either the Lighthouse Mission Ministries, Bellingham, or The Chrisstian Missionary Alliance, c/o Northside Community Church, Bellingham.
