An autopsy was performed and cause of death was determined to be septic shock due to Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. He was cremated at Voglers Crematory in Clemmons, North Carolina and is interned at Elm Grove Methodist Cemetery, Pfafftown, Forsyth County, North Carolina.
