David was born in Uvalde, one of 13 children of the Rev. Charles Forrest Andrews and his wife, Annis Speed. He graduated as valedictorian from Madisonville High School and attended Baylor University as a varsity letterman competing in track. There he met his wife of 48 years, Catherine Coit. David was a major in the Air Force, serving in England, Scotland and France during World War II and was honored for his service in the organization of the Normandy Invasion. He was recalled to duty at Carswell Air Force Base during the Korean War.

David and Catherine had three children, Angela, Richard and Stephen. He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine; son Stephen; and grandson Steven Rutledge (Find A Grave Memorial# 95613304).

Survivors: Brother, Steve Forrest; children, Angela Fabry and Richard Andrews; daughter-in-law, Susana Correa Andrews; grandchildren, David Rutledge, Lara Andrews Kutz, Matthew, Suzanne and Michael Andrews; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Andrew Rutledge and Emily and Hannah Kutz.
