Ramond Hunt, 78, of North Shore Road, Cuba, died Wednesday (August 27th, 2008)and Veterans Memorial Hospital in Buffalo.

Born August 11, 1930 in Batvia, he was the son of Elmer and Myrtle (Bahre) Hunt. On August 28, 1981, in Wellsville, he married Heather Beauprey, who survives.

Ray was a long time resident of Wellsville and moved to Cuba in 1996. He was a 1949 graduate of Wellsville High School and a 1965 graduate of St. Bonaventure University. He served with the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957, and was issued the National Defense Service Medal. He was formerly employed by C. E. Preheater Company in Wellsville and Lockheed and Aerovox in California. He owned and operated the Golden Crest Hotel in North Lake Tahoe, CA, until his return to Wellsville in 1979. That year he purchased the former Babcock Theater and operated the Lin-Ray Theater and Drive-In Inc. until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion, he delivered Meals on Wheels for the Allegany County Office for the Aging and helped with the Andover 4th of July commitee's Haunted House concession stand.

Surviving besides his wife Heather are five children; Gary (Eva Willets) Hunt of Wellsville; Kathy Wittie of Andover; Kimberly (Dennis) Herr of Wellsville; Darcy (Carson) Shutt Jr. of Genesee, Pa; and Lars Lamphere of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, June Enos of Cuba and Marge Hand of Wellsville; one brother, Allen (Susan) Hunt of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Hunt.

Friends are invited to visit from 2-4 and 7-9 Saturday a the J.W. Embser Funeral Home, 34 W. State St., Saturday in Wellsville. The funeral will be at 1pm Sunday, in the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Kenyon, presiding. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial suggestions are for the Wellsville Volubteer Ambulance Corps and the Allegany County SPCA.
