Obituary for Virginia Mary 'Ginny' (Walterscheid) Schneider
Mass of Christian Burial of Virginia Mary Schneider, age 91, of Muenster was held at 10 am on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Vigil and Rosary was held Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. Mrs. Schneider passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022.

Virginia (Ginny) Schneider was born on February 27, 1931 in Muenster. She was the first of five children born to Al and Catherine Walterscheid: Dorothy, William (Willie), Carl (Boobie), and Mary Catherine.

Ginny is survived by her sons Don and Shawna of Royse City, John and Jane Schneider of Lake Kiowa, Tim and Kristi Schneider of Muenster; daughters Pam McDonald of Krum, Deb and the late Claude Klement of Muenster, Sandi and Tim Harding of Tatum, and Wanda and Ricky Cloud of Krum, 19 grandchildren & 34 great-grandchildren, her brother Willie Walterscheid and sister-in-law Queenie, and her sister-in-law Patsy Walterscheid all of Muenster.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ed Schneider and their infant son Ronald.

Ginny attended Sacred Heart Catholic School graduating in 1949 and worked as a popcorn girl at the Relax Theater where she met the love of her life Ed. They were married on May 29th 1950 at Sacred Heart Church and moved into a home on North Main Street while they built their new forever home on North Maple Street in 1959 after purchasing the land from George Mollenkopf, Sr.

Ginny went to work as a secretary for Dr. Martin Kralicke in 1966 at the Medical Center, retiring after 33 years in 1998.

She was also involved in catering for weddings and parties under the name of Ginny's Catering that officially began in 1976, but this service to the community truly began when she and Papa started cooking for the football boys every Friday night in the early 70's, which began it all. Everybody knew that when the tan van arrived so did the fried chicken. The Muenster Volunteer Fire Department was probably the most fed over the years and those "fireboys" welcomed her help and pickles each summer at the Firemen's BBQ.

One of Ginny's hobbies was sewing. If anyone needed something mended, a dress made… even a wedding gown, they knew who to call. She also cross-stitched and there are a great number of baby blankets in the family. Some of the many items lovingly sewed were the kindergarten nap mats, choosing each material with care and a playground full of little girls who received their own cheerleading outfits with dreams of becoming a future cheerleader.

Ginny stayed busy in retirement but still sought out something more to do so she started substitute teaching at the Muenster schools. She loved being around the students who called her Gammy as she made them feel like her own grandkids teaching them to cook, showing them how to cross-stitch, and mending all of the torn football jerseys for Coach Carney.

There is a common thread of cooking, sewing, and serving and she taught us all so much through her gifts and caring for others. Our time that we were so blessed to have with her will continue to be shared in all of our stories and lives. We are so thankful for the legacy she & Ed have left us with and thankful for our community and the love they gave her as well.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Muenster Volunteer Fire Department, 400 N. Main Street, Muenster, TX 76252.
