Fillmore County News, Exeter, Nebraska - October 11, 1984

Lillian Anna Barkmeier was born March 24, 1921, to August Frank Barkmeier and Anna Barbara Menke. She passed away suddenly at her home in Exeter, Nebraska on October 1, 1984 at the age of 63 years. She was one of eight children.

She was a graduate of Exeter High School, Class of 1938. Following graduation, Lillian taught rural school, worked at Consumers Public Power, the Fairmont Air Base and the Veteran's Administration. The last 38 years she has been employed with the First National Bank in Exeter, first as a teller, later as Cashier, Vice President and Director, and President of the First National Insurance Agency.

Preceding her in death were her parents and sister Ella Morgan. Survivors include brothers, Louis and Walter of Exeter, Vincent of Battle Lake, Minnesota, Raymond of Hampton, Iowa and sisters Mrs. Dick (Rose) Lilly of Los Angeles and Lea of Exeter.

Funeral Mass was offered at St. Stephen's Catholic Church on October 3, 1984 with Msgr. H.H. Ingenhorst officiating. Robert Rhodes accompanied by Henrietta Harre sang, The Lord's Prayer and How Great Thou Art. Pallbearers were Bill Morgan, Jerry Barkmeier, David Barkmeier, Tom Votipka, Gail Heffelfinger and Roger Johnson. Internment was in the Exeter Cemetery. Farmer Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
