Jay P. Wade, 74, of Sycamore, Ill., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at his home.
Born May 6, 1929, in Sycamore, he was the son of William and Grace (Esterbrook) Wade. He married June M. Stevens on Oct. 6, 1951, in Elgin.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, 129th Infantry, 44th Division. He was a lifetime member of the Sycamore VFW.
Jay was born, lived and died on Center Cross Street in Sycamore. He was a devoted husband to June for 51 years. He was the owner of Jay P. Wade Construction Co. in Sycamore for many years. He was a beloved uncle and a man of impeccable integrity, devotion, and generosity. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Richard) Campbell of West Dundee and Carole (Will) Ragowski of California; 11 nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Scott, David, Tami, Vicki, Holly, Nick, Tracie, Ron, Connie and Lori; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife in 2002.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore, with the Rev. Daniel Diss officiating. Burial will be private at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.
