My grandfather, John Jordan McAfee, died when I was only two years old, so I do not remember him at all, and at this time I do not have a photo of him.
His parents were William James McAfee (1848-1882) and Mary Achord McAfee, of Washington County, Georgia
He married twice. His second wife, Sarah Emily Ivey, was my grandmother, but she died a couple of years before I was even born. I was named partially for her and partially for my mother's sister, who was also named "Sarah."
There were four sons born to John Jordan McAfee and his first wife, Minnie Pauline Moorman, whom he married on 18 December 1895:
Raymond Charles, b. 1896
John Lester McAfee, b. 1899
James Bryant McAfee, b. 1902
Edgar Eugene McAfee, b. 1904
Minnie died on 9 August 1904. John Jordan married his second wife, Sarah Emily Ivey, on 17 June 1906.
He and Sarah Emily Ivey had three children: Ivey William McAfee, born Oct. 25, 1909; Mary Sallie McAfee (later Mrs. J. W. Pennington); and my father, Roy Lamar McAfee, born March 10, 1913.
