Essie Jeffries Ballard, 99, formerly of Jeffersonville, IN, died October 9, 2008 at Kensington Manor. She was retired from the Standard Printing Co., Jeffersonville. She was a guide at The Howard Steamboat Museum, Jeffersonville, Rebekah Lodge of New Albany, IN, The Royal Neighbors of America, New Albany Chapter, The Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Park Place United Methodist Church, Jeffersonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ray Ballard; and daughter, Berta Mae.
She is survived by her caregiver; and great-nephew, Larry Steen; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Percell & Sons Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, with Rev. Rachel Marshall officiating. Burial is 2 p.m. Thursday in Eastern Cemetery, Jeffersonville. Visitation is 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. J.L. Steen Funeral Directors, Elizabethtown in charge of arrangements.
