Orville Forrester Freeman Jr., age 88, of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, Corunna, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Calvin Long will officiate. Burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery, New Haven, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday December 26, 2009 from 6-8 PM and Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
Orville was born in Owosso, Michigan on April 24, 1921, the son of Orville and Inez (Forrester) Freeman. He resided most of his life in the Owosso area. Orville married Thelma Richmond on May 10, 1947 in Owosso, MI. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Owosso, MI.
Orville worked for Fruchey Bean in Oakley. He was a farmer and worked in farming for most of his life. Orville raised horses and hooked them up in teams. He also had antique tractors and enjoyed gardening. Orville and Thelma spent winters in Texas and did a lot of traveling together. Spending time with his granddaughters was very important to him.
He is survived by his wife Thelma Freeman of Owosso, MI, 4 sons; Dean Freeman of Flint, MI, Dennis and Elizabeth Freeman of Tennessee, Bruce and Judy Freeman of Owosso, MI, Kent and Judy Freeman of Owosso, MI, 2 beautiful granddaughters; Maranda Freeman and Alysha Freeman, sister Doris Conn of Owosso, MI, and sister-in-law Josephine Freeman of Corunna, MI. Orville is also survived by many nieces & nephews. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Diane Kay Freeman, sister Jean Marks and brother John Freeman.
