His parents were Anton and Johanna (nee Strauss) Hochevar. Anton immigrated to America from Zuzemberk, Slovenia in 1901 at age 11 with his mother Josefa and brother Franc and settled in Bridgeport, OH where Hank grew up.
Bridgeport did not have a hospital and is right across the Ohio/WV border, therefore he was born in Wheeling but the family lived in Bridgeport until 1939 when they moved to Cleveland. He loved listening and going to opera performances and walks every day. Enjoyed watching hockey and auto racing. He had nine grandchildren.
Hank was 5'8" tall, with brown eyes & brown hair which was not gray -- what's left of it!!
