William Smith age 61 years and a native of Lester, England died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Coleman in this city last Saturday afternoon. Death resulted from pneumonia after an illness of but a few days. Mr. Smith was a shoemaker and had a shop on lower main street. Mr. Smith came here from England a little over six months ago.
The deceased leaves three children residing here and two children in England. Those living here are Mrs. F J Brinton(sic)[Brenton], John W. Smith and Mrs. Coleman.
The funeral services were conducted from the Baptist Church Monday afternoon and were attended by a large number of friends.
Interment took place in the city cemetery under the direction of Undertaker Eustice.

Death Certificate states his father was Thomas Smith and his mother Chapman both born in England. He is widowed at this time and the informant is Mrs. Mary A. Brenton
