Shawn was born on February 5, 1960, to Paul Warren Kern and Judith Lynne (Pickens) Kern.
She was employed as a dealer at the French Lick Springs Resort and Casino and attended Ames Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the French Lick American Legion Post 76 Auxiliary.
She is survived by her mother, Judith Kern of Port Orange, Fla.; two daughters, Sarah Ross of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Nicole Evangelista of Port Orange, Fla.; one son, Timothy Dean Parrish of French Lick; two sisters, Robin Robinson of Palm Coast, Fla., and Stephanie Steel of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a grandmother, Margie Pickens of Orleans, Ind.; one grandson, Chase Ross, and one grandchild, "Buster Brown," on the way; her companion, Mike Shipman of French Lick; her very best friend, Melissa Hardy of French Lick; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Kern; and her grandparents Coleman "Papaw" "Pick" and Ada (Warren) Pickens and Paul and Marjorie (Hewett) Kern.
Funeral service will be held at Ames Chapel United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, with Rev. Gary Loy officiating.
Interment will be at Ames Chapel Cemetery in Paoli, Ind.
