Biography by BW Robbins:

William Hudson Robbins (23 Jun 1845 - 2 Apr 1894) was born in Franklin Co., TN and died in Hays Co., TX. He was married 5 Feb 1868 in Fayette Co., TX to Mary Jane "Dink" Cockrill (1 Jan 1853 - 4 Jan 1919) (Fayette Co., marriage book O, p305) Both are buried in the Wallace Mountain cemetery, Dripping Springs, Hay Co., TX. His nickname was Hue.

Hue served on the side of the Confederates in Co. I; Flournoy's 16th Regiment, Texas Infantry. He enlisted 3 April 1862 in Travis Co., in Capt. LW Moore's Co. at 17 years of age. (Archives, Texas State Library Austin, Travis Co., TX) Also serving in CSA with WH was several members of the RAY family, including Jabez and Bennett. The names of Robbins and Ray appear on the Indigent Families Lists 1863-1865. This shows they received funds from the Joint Resolution passed by congress on 24 Nov 1863 stating that the government pledged "support and maintenance of [the soldiers'] families during their absence from home."
